STATEMENT BY LISA GABLE PRESIDENT OF THE HEALTHY WEIGHT COMMITMENT FOUNDATION CONGRATULATES THE ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION AND THE AMERICAN BEVERAGE ASSOCIATION ON THEIR COMMITMENT TO THE CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE
“Today the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the American Beverage Association announced that they have made a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to reduce beverage calories consumed in the United States by 20% by 2025.
“This announcement is another significant step forward and comes one week after the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation confirmed that the HWCF member companies had removed 6.4 trillion calories from the marketplace since 2007.
“We could not be happier to see the ABA and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation continue to build on their 2006 commitment. We encourage others in the industry to join us and do what they can to reduce childhood obesity.”
