Chief of Staff

Mary Ellen Brown is the Chief of Staff for HWCF, responsible for all aspects of the President's schedule, executive communication and tracking HWCF projects with a focus on program optimization and creating efficiencies of scale.  She joined the foundation in June 2014 as the Director of Scheduling and Senior Program Manager.

Previously, Mary Ellen spent eight years working at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as Director of Scheduling for Secretaries Michael Chertoff, Janet Napolitano, and Jeh Johnson. An integral part of the Secretary’s office, Mary Ellen worked with staff at the White House, Federal Agencies, Members of Congress, foreign dignitaries and private sector stakeholders to ensure priorities of the department were met despite changes in leadership. Prior to her time at the department, she worked on Capitol Hill for three years as the Scheduler and Executive Assistant to Chairman Donald Manzullo of the House Small Business Committee.

Mary Ellen has a Bachelor's Degree in English Writing and Mass Communications from Saint Mary's College in South Bend, IN.
